Two-digit degrees above zero and warm winds - the weather trend is expected to continue and ensure T-shirt temperatures in southern Germany on New Year's Eve.

Munich – The Christmas holidays are just over and the next major annual event is already approaching: New Year's Eve.

But the weather is already giving the people of Munich a foretaste of the new year 2023 with spring-like temperatures and warm winds. The weather trend peaks on New Year's Eve and can even crack the 20-degree mark in some places.

Munich: Weather forecast for New Year's Eve predicts T-shirt weather

On Boxing Day, December 26, the maximum temperature north of the Alps was an incredible 14 degrees.

The experts from the German Weather Service (DWD) did not expect such spring-like weather until March 2023.

The temperature is expected to rise even further in the coming days.

The people of Munich will get a little impression of winter on Wednesday and Thursday night.

According to the DWD, the temperature falls just below zero.

But during the day, double-digit plus degrees are predicted in Munich, the warm phase dominates with nine degrees on Wednesdays and twelve degrees on Thursdays.

New Year's weather: few clouds and long-lasting sunshine in southern Germany

In the night from Thursday to Friday, December 30, the temperature should remain at five degrees at night and rise to eleven degrees during the day.

Clouds and sunshine alternately determine the weather in the sky.

Rain showers are expected in the afternoon.

But the following day, the trend reached a notable peak in the south.

On Saturday, December 31st, most of the northern half of Germany will have constant cloud cover, some with precipitation.

But further south, according to a forecast by the DWD, the weather will improve just in time for New Year's Eve.

South of the Main it will remain cloudy.

However, significant rain is not expected.

And even further south from the Danube, the sun is supposed to shine for a long time and ensure "unusually mild temperatures".

Clear skies at the turn of the year - good view of fireworks

During the day, the sun warms the regions south of the Danube to 12 to 19 degrees, in the southwest even up to 20 degrees.

In Munich itself, with a clear sky, the maximum temperature is estimated to be 16 degrees.

According to the DWD, however, it cools down again to two to eight degrees on the night of New Year's Day.

What is good news for the revelers is

a "sad record" for weather expert Dominik Jung from

wetter.net .

2022 will be the warmest year on record, with an average temperature of almost 10.6 degrees.
