Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that President Vladimir Putin did not consult with the (OPEC Plus) group before signing the decree on the measures taken in response to the measures taken by Western countries to impose a ceiling on Russian oil prices.
Sputnik quoted Peskov as telling reporters today: “Russian internal consultations and a study of Russian experts were conducted before imposing these measures,” pointing out that Russia has the sovereign right to respond to such completely illegal and absurd measures.
Peskov pointed out that the Russian authorities are working on analyzing the situation in the event that the West imposes a ceiling on gas prices, and it is too early to talk about other steps because the gas market has its own details, and after completing the analysis, some other steps will already be formulated.
Yesterday, President Putin signed a presidential decree prohibiting the sale of Russian oil to countries that set a ceiling on its price. This step comes in response to the measures taken by Western countries to impose a ceiling on Russian oil prices.
The ban imposed on the supply of oil and petroleum products from Russia will come into effect from February 1st to July 1st.
On the other hand, Peskov said: There is still no peace plan with Ukraine because the Kyiv regime does not take into account the realities of today with the entry of four new regions into Russia, adding: "Any plan that does not take these realities into account cannot be called peaceful."
