The Dorst-Löcherer Foundation has once again made iPads available to the Franz-Marc elementary school in Kochl.

Kochel am See – Foundation Chairman Hubert Locher recently presented a class set of the latest generation of iPads to headmaster Jakob Dondl.

"It is important to encourage the development potential of the children as early as possible.

Digital education as early as elementary school makes a significant contribution to this,” emphasized Locher when the devices were handed over.

In the spring of 2021, the Kochler Foundation had already supported the elementary school with an almost six-figure amount, thereby making the “digital elementary school” model project, which is very special in the region, possible.

The project should enable teachers to teach students to use different media responsibly.

As part of the project, the school has now been equipped with, among other things, 50 iPads and some digital boards (we reported).

For children in third grade

"In the past, the iPads enabled a wide range of access to the learning material, especially in the subjects of mathematics, German as well as homeland and general studies," says headmaster Jakob Dondl.

The devices are also used sensibly when learning at home and when you are ill.

According to Dondl, the new iPads will in future be used by children in the third grade.

According to the Kochler concept, the students in the first and second grades occasionally worked with the digital devices.

Third and fourth graders, on the other hand, all received their own personalized iPads for the duration of their schooling, Dondl says.

But since there are currently 37 third graders, the devices purchased so far have not been sufficient.

Community funded a 3D printer

The municipality also wants to invest further in the digitization of its primary school.

For example, a 3D printer was recently purchased.

"It is very important to me that we move with the times and prepare the students for the digital future," says Mayor Thomas Holz.

Principal Dondl attaches great importance to the commitment of the Dorst-Löcherer-Foundation.

"We appreciate it enormously to have such a strong partner at our side." A foundation that is so committed to the education of local youth is not only of great value for all primary school children and their families, but for society as a whole.
