The President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, confirmed that his country will continue to strengthen its defense capabilities during the year 2023, in light of the ongoing escalation and the continuous US provocations on the Korean Peninsula.
Kim analyzed, in a report he submitted while chairing the Sixth Expanded Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Democratic Korean Work Party, according to what the Korean Central News Agency reported, the new situation based on the challenges witnessed by the peninsula and the basic goals of his country to enhance the self-reliant defense capability, which must be reached in 2023, in the conditions of the changing multilateral situation.
In the report, Kim pointed out the principle of external action and the direction of struggle against the enemy, which the Party and government of the DPRK must adhere to to defend national sovereignty and interests under the current circumstances.
He pointed out the necessity of bringing about a radical transformation in the fields of ideological and life culture with the change of times, steadily strengthening the function and role of socialist laws, consolidating the spirit of abiding by the law and leading the national social movement more strongly in the DPRK style.
