The first online museum in the district of Erding is now really online.
It "stands" in Wartenberg, and if the market had to erect a building for it - the old school building would by no means have been enough.
Given the cash situation in Wartenberg, such a project would also be hubris.
But the stately art collection, and by no means only that, can now be shown publicly in a different way.
Wartenberg – The whole thing is an idea by Heike Kronseder.
The art historian and market councilor presented her thoughts for the first time in September 2021.
In October, the topic came before the culture committee.
And in March of this year the current webmaster Helmut Schneider received the order and now the museum has gone online.
Mayor Christian Pröbst was full of praise for the commitment at the presentation to the press.
Mathias Kehm and Christoph Stimer-Patschan are part of the team.
Schneider is responsible for the catchy logo, which probably still needs to be protected to prevent misuse.
As of the opening, 649 exhibits are currently being presented on the website.
These include 192 works by 16 artists and 278 historical postcards.
As for motivation, Kronseder said: “We have a great collection.
And these works all cost taxpayers' money." That's why it's good and right to make them publicly accessible.
Clicking on a painter's picture enlarges it and reveals a description.
The site initially makes statements about the team, but also about the many artists from Wartenberg and the immediate vicinity.
Another “room” that can be reached with a mouse click is about the country and people in Wartenberg.
There are also 179 death pictures of Wartenbergers.
"Death pictures are civic history," said Kronseder.
Another section in the page structure, which Schneider kept simple, is dedicated to views of Wartenberg, lovingly photographed by Jutta Paulini, among others.
And yet there is still a lot to be done: the cataloging of the art collection – there is even a well-stocked depot room in the town hall – is not yet complete.
In addition, there are still many treasures waiting to be recorded and presented, including a donation of no fewer than 500 sheets by Josef Zach, all drawings.
Virtual special exhibitions are also planned.
And those who want to keep up to date with what's new in the museum will soon be able to subscribe to a newsletter, which will send you the latest news by email.
This idea developed spontaneously at the press conference.
But first, those responsible were allowed to toast their success.
The site can also be used for mobile phones and is barrier-free.
Anyone who thinks they have found an error is invited to email Heike Kronseder directly at heike.kronseder@t-online.
Those who have treasures such as old postcards, photos, works of art and the like are asked by the makers not to throw anything away, but to make them available for the museum.
