Health Minister Holetschek is vehemently opposed to legalizing cannabis.

A Bavarian member of the Bundestag addressed the CSU politician in clear words.

Lauf – Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) is vehemently opposed to possible cannabis legalization and also called on Chancellor Olaf Scholz to stop legalization.

He has now submitted an application for review to the University of Erlangen.

The Laufer member of the Bundestag Kristine Lütke (FDP) finds only incomprehension.

Cannabis legalization: Holetschek commissions expert opinions

As the Bavarian Ministry of Health announced in mid-December, Holetschek commissioned a legal opinion on the subject of cannabis legalization from the University of Erlangen.

"Despite major health risks and legal concerns, the traffic light coalition has so far stuck to its plans," said the CSU politician.

"That's why I commissioned a legal opinion to clarify the international and European legal limits of cannabis legalization in Germany.

My goal is to objectify the debate.”

The CSU politician is convinced: "Cannabis consumption harbors dangers for physical, mental and psychological health" and should not be played down as "so-called stimulants." Holetschek therefore called on Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach to stop cannabis legalization and to focus more on prevention and educational work instead.

“Sweep in front of your own front door” – Lütke sharply criticizes Holetschek

On Twitter, the FDP member of the Bundestag, Kristine Lütke, severely criticized Holetschek's actions: "Incredible!" writes Lütke.

"Klaus Holetschek is really trying everything to prevent the legalization of cannabis." Instead, she advised the CSU politician: "First sweep your own front door: Bavaria has the most drug-related deaths nationwide." The politician is convinced: "The Prohibition has failed!”

BKA statistics from 2021 show: With 255 drug-related deaths, Bavaria is not the federal state with the most drug-related deaths, but it is in second place behind North Rhine-Westphalia (693 deaths).

Lütke is addiction and drug policy spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group and head of a care facility for seniors in the Nuremberg region.

Shortly thereafter, the FDP activist followed up with another tweet: “The Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek

wants to use his anti-cannabis campaign to protect the German population from decline through legalization.

I sometimes ask myself: Who is actually protecting us from Klaus Holetschek?” Lütke wrote.

"Finally clear words" - users react divided

Lütke received a lot of approval online for her tweets, but also criticism: "I think it's good that there should be an expert opinion," wrote one user.

"Finally clear words," said another.

Holetschek has been vehemently leading his "anti-cannabis campaign" for months.

As early as May, the CSU politician had warned of trivialization, which could persuade even more people to consume.

According to Lauterbach's legalization plans, the purchase and possession of 20 grams of cannabis should in future be generally exempt from punishment from the age of 18.

Furthermore, the self-cultivation of up to two cannabis plants should also be allowed.

The proportion of the intoxicating substance THC should be a maximum of 15 percent.

In young people between the ages of 18 and 21, the THC content is limited to ten percent – to prevent “cannabis-related brain damage”.
