Several star animators including Thierry Ardisson, Agathe Lecaron and Laurent Ruquier have experienced television failures this year. Back on these programs that will not go down in history.

As 2022 draws to a close, it's time for the editorial staff of Le Figaro / TV Magazine to take stock of the TV programs aired over the past twelve months.

After the tops, make way for the biggest flops of the year.

“Masterchef” sauce does not take

This is undoubtedly the biggest disappointment of France Télévisions: the failure of "MasterChef".

The public service group had put the means to announce the return to its antenna of the program formerly broadcast on TF1: poster campaigns in several cities in France, trailers … Efforts that did not pay off.

The six issues offered from the end of August were followed by only 1.4 million curious on average each Tuesday evening, or 8.1% of the public.

Unsurprisingly, the contest is not renewed for a second season.

On programs of this type, perhaps we should cultivate proximity and transmission more than the “competition” side.

In any case, we will continue to work on this theme of cooking on our channels.

“, recently commented Anne Holmes, the program director of France Télévisions.

Ardisson and its “Hotel du temps”

Make the dead speak: such was the will of Thierry Ardisson in his new program proposed on France 3, three years after his departure from C8.

Launched on Monday May 2 with a larger-than-life Dalida thanks to the “deepfake”, the show only attracted 1.4 million viewers, or 6.8% audience share.

Even if this score remains low for prime time, “Hôtel du temps” will return in 2023 with Coluche in the spotlight.

A number with General de Gaulle is also in the pipeline.

Laurent Ruquier struggling

Since he dropped the controls of the Saturday evening box, brilliantly taken over by Léa Salamé, Laurent Ruquier has had a hard time bouncing back in a new format.

Apart from "Les Enfants de la télé" which works well on Sundays, its new programs have not yet found their audience.

Example with "Yesterday, today and tomorrow", produced by Thierry Ardisson.

This talk show attracted only 1.1 million viewers, or 6.2% audience share, on the day of its launch, November 15.

A concept that will not return.

Thierry Ardisson has already learned the lessons of this failure.

For the man in black, it's all the host's fault.

"

Laurent didn't understand that it was the concept of the show and he did something else"

, he recently explained in “C Médiatique” on France 5. As for “Club Première”, his other program on Paris Première unveiled in October, the audiences are not communicated but remain a fortiori confidential because of the paying nature chain.

"A flirt & a dance", and a failure

In early 2022, France 2 innovates by offering this program produced by Arthur and adapted from a British format that has proven itself across the Channel.

But the French public is very different from our neighbours.

Only 1.4 million viewers (7.1% of PDA) recorded in front of the first issue in February.

At the time, presenter Faustine Bollaert said she was disappointed and consoled herself by saying that the competition was tough.

Indeed, the evening of this launch, TF1 had programmed Les

Bronzés font du ski

which is still successful despite the multiple broadcasts, the very popular

Alex Hugo

conducted the investigation on France 3 and the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid was broadcast on Canal+.

So France Télévisions gave the program a second chance.

Without more success.

The following April 26, they are only 1.1 million viewers and 5.6% of the public.

"Married at first sight", the Belgian version that does not fascinate

During the summer, M6 decided to ride on the success of “Married at first sight” by broadcasting the Belgian version.

Missed.

They were 1.2 million viewers on average before the launch on July 4 (6.2% of PDA).

And only 778,000 people federated last Monday (4.4% of PDA) for the rest of this season 5. Catastrophic figures in prime time which will push the management of Six to deprogram the show.

“Retroscopic” or free fall

Bet lost for TMC on August 31st.

The TF1 group channel is betting on a new issue of “Retroscopy” this time with Franck Dubosc in the spotlight.

Hélène Mannarino, a journalist now focused on entertainment, was able to unite only 247,000 people with this program.

The channel ended up at the bottom of the Mediametrie ranking behind RMC Découverte, CStar and Chérie 25!

The very first issue dating from December 16, 2020 with Jean-Paul Rouve had attracted 926,000 people.
