The past year was important and fruitful for the relations between the countries • Looking to the future, China embarked on a journey of development, and China-Israel relations offer new opportunities

The year 2022 is a milestone in China's development.

The year, which was marked by the successful gathering of the Congress of the Communist Party of China, is also important for Israel and China, since this year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Looking to the future, China has embarked on a journey of development, and China-Israel relations offer new opportunities for both.

In a telephone conversation that took place in November 2021 between President Xi Jinping and President Yitzhak Herzog, the two reached important agreements and marked a path for the development of the countries' bilateral relations.

On the 30th anniversary of their relationship, the two presidents sent greetings to each other and agreed to use this opportunity to deepen bilateral relations.

Over the past three decades, with the personal commitment of the leaderships in both countries and the focused efforts of their officials, China-Israel relations have gained consistent and stable momentum, resulting in fruitful cooperation in all fields.

 Mutual trust is growing

During the last thirty years we have witnessed a mutual trust that grew more and more between the parties.

The leaders of the two countries maintained a close interaction, and between the parties there was a friendly dialogue and achievement at all levels.

We launched the intergovernmental cooperation mechanism between Israel and China and established the "Committee for Cooperation in the Field of Innovation Israel-China" (the JCIC).

In addition, we created the "Israel-China Comprehensive Innovation Partnership" in 2017, thereby reaching a new and historic high point in bilateral relations.

This year, China and Israel successfully convened the JCIC for the fifth time and held a series of activities to make a miracle of the 30th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them, thereby injecting new energy into bilateral ties.

In the last thirty years there has been a vigorous development of cooperation that helps both sides.

The volume of bilateral trade grew from 50 million dollars when the relationship was established to 8.22 billion in 2021, and to 57.23 billion in the first 11 months of 2022 - growth of 7.15% per year.

Exports are steadily increasing

Israeli exports to China and Chinese exports to Israel rose steadily.

China has become Israel's largest trading partner in Asia, and the second largest in the world, and in addition - the place from which Israel imports the most goods.

The two sides began to speed up the talks to achieve a free trade agreement.

After the talks are completed and the agreement is signed, it will give another strong boost to the Chinese-Israeli cooperation.

Chinese companies actively participate in the construction of infrastructure in Israel and contribute to Israel's socio-economic development.

The two sides are working together to build important joint projects such as the China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park and the China-Israel Innovation Park in Shanghai.

Cooperation in innovation has become a central issue and engine of growth for bilateral relations.

In the last thirty years we have seen a deepening of relations between the two nations.

When relations were established, there were only a few thousand trips between the two countries, but in 2019 this number was already 170,000 Chinese visits to Israel and about 100,000 Israeli tourists in China.

Direct flights were launched between Tel Aviv and the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Hong Kong.

Flights will resume when the global epidemic subsides.

Thanks to the interaction and cooperation at non-national levels, the two sides have so far declared 28 pairs of twin cities.

The Chinese people and the Jewish people - both have a glorious and long history, and both share an ancient friendship.

The fruits of the cooperation, which are evident in the last thirty years, prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that when the visions are compatible with each other and each side complements the other side in the field in which it is strong, the cooperation between China and Israel is a "win-win" and brings advantages to both countries and to the other the nations

A new chapter in the relationship

Both among the Chinese and among the Israelis there is a broad consensus in all sectors regarding the promotion of the comprehensive innovative partnership.

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China presented the goal and the way by which we will achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese people through the Chinese road to modernization.

The Congress also outlined a master plan for China's future development.

Our goal is basically the realization of socialist modernization by 2035 and the transformation of China into a mighty, prosperous, strong, democratic modern socialist country with an advanced, harmonious and beautiful culture by the middle of this century.

The Chinese path to modernization is one of a huge population, prosperity that everyone shares at the material level and at the level of cultural-ethical advancement, of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, and of development under peaceful conditions.

As the Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasized, China is committed to the basic policy of openness.

China will continue to implement a win-win strategy of openness and promote openness at a high level.

China's embarking on a new journey of development will give Israel and all the countries of the world greater opportunities, and this will broaden the canvas in regards to the success of relations between Israel and China down the road.

The age of 30 has a special meaning in both Chinese and Jewish culture.

The Chinese sage Confucius once said: "A person should know how to establish himself at the age of thirty."

The Talmud also refers to this age as the most energetic period in a person's life.

For China and Israel, the 30th year is a historical crossroads at the same time as a new starting point.

If we embrace the new opportunities, this will allow China-Israel relations to build on the achievements of the past thirty years and open a new and even more glorious chapter.
