The small and life-changing secret was shared by Tik Tok user casa_tips, who uploaded a video, which has so far received almost 4 million likes, in which he shows how he cuts an onion into thin strips - with a peeler.

Next to the video, the user wrote "This is really an epic victory".

Since it is a fairly simple trick, many of the surfers were enthusiastic about it - and some even declared that it changed their lives, nothing less and nothing more.

"You just changed my life," stated one commenter.

"It's genius," added another.

"29 years I have lived on this earth, and I ask myself why this idea did not cross my mind," wondered another commenter.

Despite the praise, some surfers were less enthusiastic about the idea, and expressed doubt as to whether the peeler is the most appropriate tool for cutting onions.

One of them wrote: "It is true that this is a very useful idea, but the peeler needs to be unusually sharp, so it is not such a good idea."

Another surfer wondered if regular peelers could be up to the task: "I've never had such a sharp vegetable peeler."
