One of the oldest citizens of Wolfratshausen has died.
Georg von Heydebrand and Lasa turned 100 in October.
Wolfratshausen – When Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner honored the jubilee and congratulated him on behalf of the city, it was already clear that his life was drawing to a close.
Born in Upper Silesia, he lived in assisted living on Moosbauerweg for twelve years.
His life credo was: Time for himself and other people.
At his 95th birthday he was still a tall, strong man, had a solid life, traveled, loved daily walks and regular visits to the indoor pool.
A humorous person with self-irony
Von Heydebrand volunteered – for many years with the VdK and into old age for the Wolfratshausen association “Citizens for Citizens”.
He was a humorous person with a good dose of self-mockery.
When asked about his "from" in the name, he answered modestly: "It was thought up by an ancestor of mine.
I just inherited the 'from'."
As a young man at the front in France
Georg von Heydebrand and Lasa - the suffix means the region of his birthplace - was born on October 2, 1922.
As a young man he was sent to the front in France, was taken prisoner by the Americans and survived the Second World War.
After the war he completed an apprenticeship as a farmer in Hanover.
There he met a woman from Münsingen and in his first marriage married into the farm in Weipertshausen.
He worked as a farmer for 30 years.
From this marriage seven children were born.

He lived happily with his second wife, a teacher, until she died of cancer in 2009.
In 100 years, Georg von Heydebrand and Lasa experienced two world wars, the economic miracle and finally the era of mobile communication.
On his 100th birthday, he summed it up with gratitude: "For me, everything in life was an exercise that didn't do me any harm."
