The Hong Kong Housing Society (HS)'s first project to adopt the Modular Concrete Construction (MiC) method, the first batch of subsidized sale houses of the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen NDA dedicated resettlement estate project Phase 1A

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HS) is the first project constructed using the Modular Concrete Construction (MiC) method, and the first batch of MiC subsidized sale houses of the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen NDA Special Resettlement Estate Project Phase 1A has been completed They arrived in Hong Kong one after another this month, and officially started hoisting, involving 300 units, and are expected to be completed in 2024.

Housing Society Director (Engineering Planning) Yang Qiyu pointed out that the Housing Society's engineering team took the lead in introducing the Modular Construction Method in 2018, and at the same time responded to and supported the government's promotion of relevant construction technologies.

The hoisting of the components of the first Assembly-Synthesized Subsidized Sale Housing Project has started smoothly, marking an important milestone in the project and bringing valuable experience to the Housing Society in terms of technology application.

Yang Qiyu pointed out that when the Housing Society plans other projects in the future, as long as the project is suitable and helps to improve the efficiency of housing construction, it will adopt the modular construction method.

Yang Qiyu also pointed out that the modular composite construction method can shorten the site construction time, reduce construction waste, increase environmental protection benefits, and help improve project quality and site safety.

All assembled components are uniformly produced in the indoor workshop, which can effectively control the quality and improve the efficiency of project management and supervision.

On average each unit consists of 4 components

For the HSK/HA Tsuen New Development Area subsidized sale flats project, the adoption of the Modular Integrated Construction method can save about 10% to 15% of the superstructure construction time compared with the traditional method, and the superstructure construction is expected to be completed in about 24 months.

There are as many as 13 different types of assembled components commonly known as "boxes" used in this project. The total number of components in the entire building is more than 1,200, and each unit is composed of 4 components on average.

The Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area resettlement housing estate project is divided into three phases. The subsidized sale housing project in Phase IA is being constructed using the concrete assembly method. 300 subsidized sale housing units will be provided.

The HKHS won two awards, including the "Outstanding MiC Project" award at the "Modular Composite" Construction Method Achievement Commendation Ceremony organized by the Construction Industry Council for this project, and HKHS Director (Engineering Planning) Yang Kaiyu was awarded the "Outstanding Performance Project" Team Member" award.

The Chinachem Tokyo Street project adopts modular construction method The development bureau will be launched in the third quarter of next year: the "modular composite" construction method will be widely used to break the housing shortage will refer to
