If you want to buy a ticket online in the Rhine-Main area, you now have to switch to the new RMVgo app.

Numerous new functions await users.

Hofheim – It has been around since October, and now it is to become mandatory for digital ticket purchases: the new RMVgo app will completely replace the old RMV app in Hesse in the new year.

If you still want to buy a ticket online, you have to switch to the new app.

By early December, around 200,000 people had downloaded the new app, a spokeswoman said in December.

But the old app was used by many more people.

They also have to switch at the turn of the year if they want to continue using the functions.

Digital sales channels via app have become increasingly important for RMV since Corona

The new app has been available in the Apple and Google app stores since October 17.

It should enable numerous new functions and is part of the digitization offensive of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund.

He repeatedly emphasizes how important digital sales channels have become since the corona pandemic.

In the future, it should also be possible to book e-scooters and rental bikes using the RMVgo app.

Payment should also be processed directly via the app on the smartphone.

Taxis and on-demand vehicles, i.e. minibuses without a fixed timetable, are also to be connected to the app.

It is already possible to purchase long-distance Deutsche Bahn tickets in the RMVgo app.

New RMV app also enables advance sale of season tickets

Another innovation concerns time tickets.

Up to now, it was not possible to pre-sell them using the old RMV app.

In the new app, however, weekly and monthly tickets should be available.

The new app also includes an alarm function for delays on connections that users would have saved.

At the center of the app is a large map view, on which users can find stops in the area.

You can choose between a list view and a map view for connection information.

Favorites can also be saved in the new app.

Smooth switch from old to new RMV app

RMV wants to make the switch from the old to the new app as smooth as possible.

Season tickets that are saved in the old app can also be displayed in the new app using the "Transfer season ticket to this device" function.

Prepaid credit can also be transferred if the user uses the same login data in both apps.

However, there are already reports of malfunctions in the app.

In a test in Frankfurt, for example, it showed a route for pedestrians instead of the bus and train connection.

The RMV wants to continuously develop the app in the future, according to the association's website.

So it can be worth keeping an eye out for new features from time to time.
