If one of your purposes for the year 2023 is to travel but you are not interested in big cities, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has published a list of the best towns in the world to visit.
In total, 32 towns in 18 countries were recognized taking into account parameters such as the development of sustainable tourism, health, safety and the promotion and conservation of cultural resources, among others.
The best towns are in countries like Austria to Vietnam, and Spain has the most towns on the list, with a total of three.
Of course, Latin America also entered the selection and these were the towns chosen as the most attractive destinations:
Puqueldon, Chile
This town located in the south of Chile is recognized for being quiet and offering activities related to nature, in addition, it is located on Isla Lemuy, the third largest island of the Chiloé archipelago.
Choachi, Colombia
The town of Choachí, located in the department of Cundinamarca, is recognized for having what is considered the highest waterfall in Colombia, according to the local newspaper El Espectador.
There you can also visit the Páramo El Verjón.

Aguarico, Ecuador
In this municipality that is located in the Amazon region of Ecuador, tourists can have an experience with nature, protected areas such as the Yasuní National Park and the Cuyabeno Fauna Production Reserve.
Angochagua, Ecuador
It is culturally recognized as the land of embroidery and is located 20 minutes from the city of Ibarra.
Tourists can take tours to appreciate local embroidery.
They can also go hiking and visit the hill, which is another tourist attraction.
Creel, Mexico
This municipality located in the state of Chihuahua is recognized for the Copper Canyon, one of the longest canyon systems in the world, according to the municipal government's website. In addition, the Rarámuri indigenous community preserves customs and traditions.

El Fuerte, Mexico
The municipality located in the state of Sinaloa, has several architectural attractions including the municipal palace and the Fuerte Mirador Museum, according to the TripAdvisor tourism page.

Lamas, Peru
It is located in the department of San Martín and tourists visit it to see, among other attractions, the Medieval Castle of Lamas, the viewpoint and preserves traditions of the Wayku native community.
Raqchi, Peru
The main attraction of this town is the temple of Wiracocha, which is one of the most imposing surviving Inca structures in Peru.
