The city still employs more women than men.

As has been the case for years, around 37 percent of the 473 employees are male and 63 percent female.

This can be found in the current report by the Equal Opportunities Officer Antje Barella.

Germering

- Barella was appointed the city's new Equal Opportunities Officer about a year ago.

She took over the office from Renate Konrad, who held the position for around 20 years and now heads the mayor's office in the town hall.

Her successor presented the annual report on equality to the city council for the first time, but said right at the beginning: "Compared to 2021, there is no significant change."

According to the report, the city currently employs 300 women (63 percent) and 173 men (37 percent) as employees and civil servants.

If you include the current 15 trainees, a total of 488 people work for the city.

Of the 473 employees, 275 (58 percent) work full-time – here men are in the majority at 143.

Of the 198 part-time employees, only 30 are men.

Compared to the previous report, the part-time rate among men has increased slightly.

However, Antje Barella also stated: "An increase in part-time positions in the upper management level is not discernible."

Of the 15 trainees, six are male and nine are female.

The excess of women results here primarily from the fact that six out of seven people who complete an Optiprax teacher training course are women.

According to Antje Barella, in order to promote equal filling of positions, the city uses a uniform, comparable and gender-independent evaluation of the application in job interviews.

The various elements of the health management offered should also contribute to making the jobs equally attractive for men and women.

According to Barella, the flexible working hours, including the corona-independent option to work from home regularly or as required, also promote the compatibility of work and family time for all genders.
