Pensioner (89) drives on the sidewalk and captures grandma, mother and toddler – one person dies

In an accident in Scheidegg, a woman was injured so badly that she succumbed to her injuries while still in hospital.

On a sidewalk just before Scheidegg, three people were hit by a car on Thursday.
One person died in the accident.
Scheidegg – On Thursday morning, December 29th, a serious traffic accident occurred not far from Scheidegg in the district of Lindau.
For reasons that are still unclear, a senior left the road and drove onto a sidewalk.
There he caught a family and injured them, some of them life-threateningly.
Then he just continued his journey.
Senior caught three people on the sidewalk and just kept going
According to the police headquarters in Swabia South/West, the 89-year-old was driving his car in Scheidegg.
Shortly before entering the town - in a right-hand curve - the senior lost control of his vehicle for reasons that are still unclear and came off the road to the left.
He continued on an adjacent sidewalk and caught a 31-year-old there.
The force of the collision threw her into a nearby meadow.
The 89-year-old continued his journey undeterred and shortly thereafter caught the 64-year-old mother of the 31-year-old and her baby, who was only a few months old, in the pram.
This time, too, the senior continued his journey unperturbed.
He drove on in the direction of Scheidegg and caused another accident with property damage in the town center, the police write in their press release.

64-year-old dies from injuries sustained in hospital
In the collision with the walkers, the 64-year-old grandmother was critically injured.
She was immediately taken to a hospital, but died there a short time later as a result of the accident.
The toddler and his mother also received medical care.
The police did not specify the severity of their injuries.
The pensioner's car suffered property damage of around 5,000 euros.
He is now being investigated for negligent homicide in a traffic accident, endangering road traffic and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident.
The statement goes on to say: “The Kempten public prosecutor’s office ordered an on-site accident analysis report and a blood test from the driver.
An alcohol test with a pre-test device resulted in a value of 0.0 per mille.
The driver's license of the person who caused the accident was seized."
