In a closed meeting, the municipal council of Bad Wiessee dealt with the future strategy for local planning.

Bad Wiessee

– Tourism is Bad Wiessee's most important economic factor.

But ever larger projects with their large construction sites are having an ever more massive effect on the structures of the place.

In a closed meeting, the municipal council dealt with this topic and defined a bundle of strategic goals that should serve as guidelines for future decisions in the field of tourism.

The results have now been presented to the public.

No further sealing of green areas

All projects that have been approved or are already under construction clearly represent an enrichment for the place and are expressly desired as an investment in the future of the community, it said.

But the measure for large-scale projects is now full, further corresponding projects would "change the place immensely", which is why a stop must be put forward here to protect the status quo.

Another sealing of green spaces for tourist objects should no longer be permitted.

Building land should only be designated if the general public benefits from it to a particular extent.

Whether properties that have already been decided on will really benefit the location can only be seen after they have been realized and opened.

The municipality has a particular focus on drinking water requirements and the infrastructure, which is already heavily used.

The measure of the population equivalents used to be a good guideline, it said.

Their omission now obliges us to make “particularly responsible decisions”.

“A good mix of hotel standards would be an advantage”

With regard to the accommodation offer, "a good mix of hotel standards would probably be an advantage", is the tenor.

However, market economic aspects dictated the direction here.

Due to the price of land in the Tegernsee valley, houses in the higher categories were mainly being built.

But these would also have a certain pull effect for all tourist landlords.

The increased construction of holiday homes is also approved, as this requires fewer staff.

Obligation to build employee housing

This was followed by the next point: the obligation to build dormitories for employees.

This was a "good decision".

Of course, one is aware of the downside.

As a rule, employees only wanted to live there for the medium term and would then have to rely on the free housing market again.

In addition, the rental contracts are linked to the job.

If this falls away, there is a risk of homelessness, especially in the area of simple activities, for which the municipality would be responsible.

It was also pointed out that many investments in tourism are also available to local people.

There should be no division here.

In this context, the valley idea should be lived: Not every investment has to be offered in every community.

Greater control of day tourism using digital displays and processing them in an app is important.

There should not be any additional daily events.

Income from parking fees should benefit local residents

As a kind of relief for the high traffic load caused by day tourists, income from noticeably higher parking fees should benefit the locals.

An increase in fees for the coming year has already been decided (we reported).

The fact that Lake Tegernsee is increasingly becoming a year-round destination should also be reflected in the application by Tegernseer Tal Tourismus (TTT) in order to achieve even occupancy throughout the year and to mitigate the "stress peaks" in summer.

In addition, tourists are to be given more respect for nature, mountains and species protection.

Here TTT and the regional development Oberland (REO) are responsible.

Do not reduce to health location

After all, it was about the image of Bad Wiessee as a health resort.

The mineral springs and the iodine-sulphur bath are certainly important facilities, one is "grateful to have them." But the place should not be reduced to a pure health location, since Bad Wiessee is much more than just that.

The latter was sent to the TTT for "observation and implementation".

"The committee undertakes to take the goals developed for the 'tourism' area into account in all decisions to be made," was the proposed resolution, which received a clear yes with 18:0 votes.
