The containers in Ashkelon: Niso the fisherman claims, "This is my container, return it and its contents to me"

Nisu the fisherman finds a container in the sea (Nisu the fisherman)

The fisherman Niso went fishing this week and according to him today (Thursday) he found one of the containers that washed up on the shores of Ashkelon this week.

According to him, since no owners were found for the containers, and due to the laws of the sea according to which an object found in the sea belongs to its origin - he should be the owner of the container.

"We went out to sea to fish and we were 8 kilometers from the shore, so we came across a container in the sea, we almost went into it. We tried to drag it and tied it with ropes, but without success. So I brought another boat and we dragged it to the shore," said the fisherman Niso.

"The marine police contacted us to leave her after we reached the shore."

He explained that the meaning of leaving the container means that it will reach the shore where it will be looted or else it will sink.

However, Niso said that finally the maritime police took the container away from them on the grounds that they were afraid that others would loot it.

"There is a matter here that the container has no owner," claims Niso, "we are now going to court, to issue a restraining order to have it returned."

Niso added that if they find an owner or an insurance company for the container, "we will settle with them and reimburse them", but that in the current situation, "it is not possible for them to come and take it".

About two days ago, thousands of children's toys and pacifiers washed up on the shores of Ashkelon after several containers carrying them broke away from a foreign ship waiting in the middle of the sea and drifted into Israeli territory due to stormy weather.

The free attraction drew crowds after footage of the goods being scattered in large quantities circulated online.

Some of the containers remain locked and continue to float in the sea.

However, when rumors arrived about the types of goods they contained, purposeful citizens set out for them in boats.

The rumors range from new iPhones, Nike shoes and electric scooters locked inside a container floating in the middle of the sea.
