The Great Mosque of Paris announced that it was filing a complaint on Wednesday December 28 against the writer Michel Houellebecq for “
serious
” remarks against Muslims in France.
In his last interview granted to the magazine
Front populaire
, launched by the philosopher Michel Onfray, the author is accused by the Muslim institution of "
provocation to hatred
", by remarks "
of staggering brutality
".
In an unpublished dialogue of forty-five pages shared with Michel Onfray at the beginning of December, the philosopher and the writer, convinced of the decline of the West, discuss in depth the dangers which await civilization.
Among them, the Muslim religion is widely cited by the author of
Submission
.
And the Muslim institution to quote several excerpts.
“
People are arming themselves.
They get guns, take lessons in the shooting ranges.
And these are not hotheads,
explained Michel Houellebecq.
When the entire territories are under Islamic control, I think acts of resistance will take place.
There will be attacks and shootings in mosques, in cafés frequented by Muslims, in short Bataclans upside down
”.
A little further on, the 2010 Goncourt prize also affirmed that “
the wish of the native French population
” was not “
for Muslims to assimilate, but for them to stop stealing from and attacking them.
Or else, another solution, that they go away
”.
"
These lapidary sentences by Michel Houellebecq are unacceptable
, reacted Chems-eddine Mohamed Hafiz, rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris since 2020.
They are not intended to shed light on any public debate but to stir up discriminatory speeches and acts
", he estimated, announcing that he had filed a complaint with the public prosecutor of Paris.
On Twitter, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo said to bring “
all (her) support
” to the rector.
