The documents to take with you during your stay in Canada depend on the length of your stay there.
Thus, there is no need to apply for a visa for a tourist stay of less than six months.
However, there is one document that you absolutely must bring: your passport.
In addition, anyone exempt from a visa (this is the case if you are a French national) must apply for an electronic travel authorization (AVE) from the Canadian government, in the very likely event that they arrive by plane.
This document costs 7 Canadian dollars.
All the details relating to the eTA application are accessible on the dedicated page of the government website.
An on-demand guide to the precious sesame is also available.
Travelers arriving by boat or car and bus do not need to request the AVE.
