In Erlangen, police officers found a body in an apartment.

The emergency services then always take care of those left behind - in this case a gray cat.

Erlangen - "It's always difficult when we go into an apartment and realize that something is wrong": With these words, the police in Central Franconia begin a current Facebook post.

It happens again and again that neighbors no longer get their mail from the mailbox or relatives can no longer be reached.

The officials then assume that something bad may have happened.

Together with the fire brigade, the emergency services open the affected apartments.

Erlangen police find body with cat in apartment: "It's always a severe shock"

The best case is when the apartment is empty and the resident is just away.

"Unfortunately, we often find injured or seriously ill and sometimes deceased people in the rooms," writes the police in Middle Franconia.

"It's always a huge shock when we discover something like this and we do our best to help those affected."

On Wednesday (December 28) exactly such a case occurred in Erlangen.

In addition to the body, officers found a gray cat in the apartment.

The apartment was secured and the probate court was notified.

This is responsible for determining the heirs.

The police also took care of the “velvet paw” who stayed behind.

They took the cat to the station.

After a little refreshment in the police inspection rooms, the officers took her to the animal shelter.

"It's always difficult when we lose someone, but we do our best to ensure that those who are left behind are well taken care of." It's not easy for the emergency services, especially so shortly after Christmas.
