Follow-up on the implementation of the digital transformation strategy and related infrastructure, and the completion of a number of projects by taking advantage of remote sensing technologies, granting licenses for electronic applications, and developing information security, the most prominent achievements in the communications and technology sector during the year 2022.

Achievements and statistics in numbers:

Providing the infrastructure for all digital transformation services, such as the e-government carrier project and the e-government portal project.

Implementation of the project to enable e-government governance by training the human cadres required for digital transformation projects, in coordination with the Ministry of Administrative Development.

Implementation of the second phase of the cloud computing project.

Preparing the national strategy for digital accessibility for people with disabilities, in cooperation with the United Nations Social and Economic Committee, ESCWA.

National Network Services Authority:

Some indicators of licensing, digital signature, web hosting, reserving Syrian top-level domains, and information security.

Licensing 10 parties as a registrar of Syrian upper domain names.

Licensing 3 parties as distributors of Syrian upper domain names.

5 companies obtained information accreditation.

58 entities have obtained the accreditation of an electronic application.

2 companies have obtained a certificate of communication permit.

6 companies obtained the accreditation of information security services companies.

13 companies obtained equipment type approval.

- 7 government transactions that adopted the digital signature.

Thirteen government agencies granted digital signature certificates outside a hydrocarbons project.

- 1 private entity that granted digital signature certificates.

- 760 active digital signature certificates.

42 entities joined the payments project.

171 electronic payment certificates.

- 95 physical hosts.

144 virtual hosting.

- 162 number of domain names hosted.

306 trainees benefited from 13 training courses organized by the Syrian-Indian Center of Excellence at the Authority.

Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority:

Granting the individual license to the third mobile operator (Wafa Telecom Telecom Private Joint Stock Company).

Follow-up on the organization of feeding the electronic accounts of cellular subscribers, as the number of subscribers reached 1,629,776 joint accounts and 10,269 merchant accounts.

The number of electronic payment transactions through cellular lines is 2,427,069.

The number of electronic payment transactions via cellular lines from a customer to a merchant is 142,760.

The number of bill payments through the payment system is 1,494,865 for Syriatel and 932,204 for MTN.

– The number of payment transactions from a customer account to a merchant account for Syriatel, 63,308 operations, and for MTN, 79,452 operations.

Syrian Postal Corporation:

During 2022, the Foundation continued to provide its services to citizens in terms of issuing documents and remittances, paying the salaries of retirees, compensations for military personnel discharged from military service, and other services, as the numbers indicate the issuance of:

- 385,336 non-working documents.

- 1,150,667 civil registry documents.

- 143,652 judicial record documents.

40,320 real estate registry documents with a total value of more than two billion and 754 million Syrian pounds.

77,634 postal money orders withdrawn, with a value exceeding 36 billion and 500 million Syrian pounds.

65,409 paid postal remittances, with a value exceeding 30,302,000,000,000 Syrian pounds.

The number of demobilized military personnel benefiting from the services of receiving compensation through the institution is 46,951 beneficiaries, with a value exceeding 96 billion and 645 million Syrian pounds.

The number of beneficiaries of insurance salaries and pensions is 672,502 beneficiaries, with a value exceeding 38 billion Syrian pounds.

24,820 services for the benefit of those registered in the Virtual University, with a value of more than 2 billion Syrian pounds.

General Authority for Remote Sensing:

The Authority, in cooperation with the Damascus Governorate, prepared an official three-dimensional model of Old Damascus through aerial survey photography using drone technology for planning purposes.

Implementation of a project to evaluate the possibility of using video recordings in the production of 3D digital models of monuments using remote sensing technologies.

Implementation of the project of internal and external digital documentation of historical sites using (photogrammetric) technologies.

Implementation of a project to monitor dust and sand storms in Syria using satellite images.

Implementation of a project to develop a methodology for the production of the agricultural investment map in the Eastern Ghouta region in Damascus countryside, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Implementation of a project to determine the area of ​​citrus fields to produce maps of the spread and distribution of citrus in the coastal region.

Implementation of the second phase of the Drought Monitoring Project in Syria, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.

Implementation of the groundwater exploration project in Quneitra Governorate, in cooperation with the General Authority for Water Resources.

Implementation of a project to study geological and hydrological indicators to assess the vulnerability of the Diffa basin to pollution and to link them with the factors affecting the pollution of the basin.

Signing a memorandum of understanding to build a geological information bank for the benefit of the General Organization for Geology and Mineral Resources, in addition to automating, organizing and revising the appropriate geological maps for the bank and setting up its infrastructure.

The Syrian Company for Electronic Payments:

The launch of the national e-commerce platform (Seeb Online) and the number of financial claims paid through it exceeded 68,000, with a value of 4.4 billion Syrian pounds.

More than 9 million financial claims were paid through a payment system, with a total value of more than 210 billion and 4 million Syrian pounds.

Syrian Telecom Company:

Rehabilitation and opening of 6 telephone centers in a number of governorates.

Expansion of the International Gateway (IGW) from 460 gigabytes to 800 gigabytes.

Providing 75 optical access units with solar energy systems in various governorates.

Installing 150,000 telephone numbers and about 100,000 internet gateways (ADSL).

E-Citizen Service Center:

– 1051407 electronic transactions issued by the center distributed among the services of the judicial, civil and temporary registry, workers, real estate services, immigration, passports, the University of Damascus, and services related to the transactions of the ministries of finance, education, higher education and scientific research.

24011 electronic transactions submitted by the electronic consular center through its portal to the Syrian community abroad.

General Authority for Wireless Communication Services:

Issuance of the new investment system for the wireless services and infrastructure of the Commission and the installation of dozens of new sites to secure coverage of the Unified Wireless Network (TETRA).

Completing the digital link with modern devices between the wireless stations to ensure their continued operation, maintenance and replacement of damaged wireless stations and equipment.
