Today, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine held a speech festival on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of its launch, at the Tishreen Sports Stadium in Damascus.
In a speech during the festival, a member of the Political Bureau of the Front, Omar Murad, affirmed the Front's adherence to resistance as an option for the liberation of Palestine, and its rejection of normalization projects and settlements because it seeks to liquidate the Palestinian cause and rights, calling for steadfastness on the approach, culture and forms of resistance as the only way to confront the Zionist occupation entity and its plans, leading to the liberation of the land and the establishment of An independent Palestinian state with its eternal capital, Jerusalem.
In his turn, Hussam Al-Samman, Secretary of the Damascus Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, stated that the front has been able, since its inception, to dedicate itself as one of the most important pillars of resistance in the Palestinian and Arab liberation movement, stressing that the Palestinian issue will remain the compass of the Syrian people in facing the challenges facing Syria and the Arab nation.
Assistant responsible for Palestinian relations in the Lebanese Hezbollah, Atallah Hammoud, stressed the need for Palestinian unity to confront the Zionist enemy that wants to tear the Palestinian people apart in order to achieve its plans, stressing that resistance is the only way to liberate the land and restore rights.
During the festival, artistic and folklore performances were presented by the bands of Ashbal and Zahrat al-Hakim of the Front, Lovers of the Land, Call of Return and Dawn of Return from the Palestinian camps in Damascus and its countryside.
The festival was attended by Dr. Khalaf Al-Muftah, Director General of Al-Quds International Foundation-Syria, a number of members of diplomatic missions accredited in Damascus, leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions, committees and bodies for the defense of prisoners, representatives of Palestinian and Syrian national parties, and religious, cultural and social events.
