From January onwards, a significant increase in the number of housing benefit recipients is to be expected in the district of Munich.
This is reported by the district office.
District
– From January 1, 2023, around two million households nationwide will be entitled to the recently approved housing benefit plus.
Low-income households in particular, which were not entitled to a subsidy for their housing costs under the previous regulation, are to be relieved by the housing benefit reform in view of the steadily increasing housing and energy costs.
For the first time, heating costs are also subsidized.
This is done in the form of a flat-rate surcharge, which is taken into account in the housing benefit calculation.
Anyone who has received housing benefit so far does not have to do anything
According to a press release from the district office, a significant increase in housing benefit recipients is also to be expected for the district of Munich.
According to information from the housing benefit office, it must be assumed that the number of those entitled to claim will triple.
Citizens who have already received housing benefit do not have to do anything.
For households that are currently receiving housing benefit, the approved amount of housing benefit will be automatically recalculated from January 1st.
A personal visit or application for recalculation is not required.
If the amount of the approved housing allowance changes, a new housing allowance notice will be issued and sent to the household concerned.
Online Housing Benefit Calculator
Households that belong to the expanded group of beneficiaries from January 1st have the opportunity to apply for the new housing benefit plus at the housing benefit office in the district office in Munich with immediate effect.
The district office offers an online housing benefit calculator on its website.
At www.landkreis-muenchen.de/buergerservice, citizens can check in advance whether and to what extent they are entitled to housing benefit.
The new application for Wohngeld Plus can also be easily completed and submitted online.
However, applications can still be submitted by post.
High number of applications expected
Due to the significantly expanded group of those entitled to claim, the housing benefit office expects a very high volume of applications, especially in the first few weeks of the new year.
The administration therefore asks for your understanding that longer waiting times must be expected at the beginning of the year before a decision is made on the new applications.
However, applicants can support the authority by submitting their application in full and with the necessary evidence specified in the service.
