The police in Nuremberg are desperately looking for a 39-year-old woman who is heavily pregnant.

In the meantime, cadaver dogs are supporting the measures.

Update from December 29:

No further sign of Alexandra R. – but the search continues.

Today, body detection dogs joined the police divers on the Main-Danube Canal (see below) and take turns riding on the boats.

"The dogs can perceive the smell of decay in the water and would indicate this to the dog handler by barking," a police spokeswoman told

Bayerischer Rundfunk

.

Search for pregnant women (39) continues: corpse dogs on site

However, it could well be that the dogs also attack animal carcasses in the water, “they cannot distinguish whether a smell of decay comes from a person or from other waste”.

After the disappearance of the 39-year-old pregnant woman from Nuremberg, a special commission was set up whose members do not rule out a crime.

Alexandra R. was last seen on December 9th.

Update from December 28th:

On Wednesday the police continued the search for a pregnant woman who had been missing for weeks in the Main-Danube Canal near Nuremberg.

The focus of the search is on the area between the Eibach lock and the Nuremberg harbor basin, said a police spokeswoman on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, three divers and a boat crew had unsuccessfully searched the area around Katzwang in the channel with a sonar device.

On Wednesday, a so-called scooter was also used - a drive that pulls the diver through the water and at the same time takes pictures.

The search had been complicated by poor underwater visibility of just half a meter.

First search operation with police divers ends without success

Update from December 27, 4:03 p.m .:

For the time being, the search for the 39-year-old from Nuremberg is over.

Due to the falling darkness, the action on the Main-Danube Canal had to be stopped.

So far, no decisive clues about the whereabouts of the missing could be found.

It should continue on Wednesday.

The police had three divers and a sonar boat on duty.

The sonar device found eight objects under water in the first few hours.

These were searched by the divers, but no connections could be made to the missing person.

According to the information, the search was made more difficult because the underwater visibility for the divers was only half a meter.

At a water temperature of around four degrees Celsius, each diver can only stay in the water for around 90 minutes.
