Must do without a few guests: Walter de Alwis, manager of the Seehotel Schlierseer Hof.

Some are tightening their belts this year, says the hotelier.

After Christmas with green meadows, holiday guests also have to do without snow at the turn of the year.

Some still come to the region.

– Guido Lackner can be satisfied after a strong summer.

The Alpenhof boss in Osterhofen speaks of almost 100 percent occupancy even over Christmas and New Year's Eve.

"Almost all the rooms are occupied." It's just a shame for the hotelier that all the snow has melted away.

"The guests already miss the wintry impression." Many would come as ski tourists, says Lackner.

But at least the lifts are still running, he doesn't want to complain.

The past year is still too present.

"We were still closed over Christmas and could only accept short-term bookings later." Nobody knew how the corona restrictions would continue.

This year the utilization for the season is good - only a few would save on vacation.

Christian Huschka from Hotel Karma Bavaria in Schliersee draws a similar picture.

A feared wave of cancellations did not roll up.

"But we're just unlucky with the weather." Guests are now asking for alternative offers such as wellness with an indoor pool or New Year's Eve menus with show cooking and a chocolate fountain.

"The guests book quite normally and are not disappointed." However, program offers are essential.

The average occupancy rate at Karma Bavaria is 70 percent, since Christmas it has been 80 percent and now it is up to 95 percent.

"If everything isn't full, that's okay," says Hauschka.

"Belt is tighter for some guests"

Mathias Schrön, head of guest information in Schliersee, is certain: "If you couldn't ski at all, it would be fatal." Thanks to the open slopes in the vicinity, the hosts are mostly satisfied.

Meanwhile, Walter de Alwis senses that "some guests' belts are tighter".

The owner of the Seehotel Schlierseer Hof says: "This year the worm is somehow in there." Compared to the pre-Corona year 2019, when everything was fully booked on New Year's Eve, this year there are still beds available at the turn of the year.

Even regular guests who have long since become friends would rather celebrate at home this year.

De Alwis sees the reason for this in several factors.

"Many fly abroad," says the hotelier.

Others are probably deterred by the higher prices on the holidays.

"In the current high season we have to offer at least half-board, which means that the prices are automatically higher." If you want to save costs, you'd better come later.

New Year's Eve menu not fully booked

"I'm actually positive," says de Alwis.

But he, too, lets himself be dragged down by bad news.

"People hear about Ukraine, gas and electricity prices on TV and then prefer to stay at home on New Year's Eve." But the prospects for the four-star hotel on Schliersee are not entirely bleak.

After all, the boss has sold 100 seats for his New Year's Eve menu, the apartment building is full.

When people come, they come in larger groups.

"But the lack of snow makes people wait even longer." nap

Most vacationers in the catering trade do not want to wait.

Hosts don't feel any losses there.

Operations are also running almost normally in the Kleeblatt butcher shop.
