For Poing's police chief Helmut Hintereder, the term of office ends at the beginning of the new year: the police chief retires.

A little review.

Poing – January 1st, 2009 was particularly exciting for the police in Bavaria.

In the course of a major reform, at the turn of the year 2008/09, the directorates as intermediate levels between the inspections and the presidency suddenly disappeared.

For Helmut Hintereder, all this had a direct, personal impact due to his existing rank.

Because the leading position for the Poing inspection had to be filled by the retirement of Rudolf Hochhard, he ended up in the northern district of Ebersberg.

A home game for Hintereder, so to speak, because he spent his childhood and youth in Poing, moved away in 1987 and came back in 2009.

After 22 years.

It will soon be 13 years since the 61-year-old will lead the office at Markomannenstrasse 24.

Longer than anyone else in the almost 50-year history of the police in Poing.

A lot has happened over the years, Hintereder reported recently at a regulars' table in Markt Schwaben with other executives from the private sector in the area.

Not only that the police station in Vaterstetten, originally created as a pilot project, was closed on the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior and the ten employees in Poing were assigned.

The Poing Police Inspectorate was also expanded in other ways.

From initially 34 reference points when Hintereder started on January 1, 2009, to currently 65.

Poing: Target points increased

Another reason why the current location on Markomannenstraße is no longer up to date and a location for a new, larger and more modern office in the Grub district has already been fixed.

Where there used to be chicken coops.

When this will be built, however, is still in the stars.

Police chief Helmut Hintereder will no longer see this on duty, because after 41 years of service, the police chief, who lives in Isen (Erding district), will retire at the end of February 2023.

The successor will then, as is customary, be formally installed at the beginning of September after a few months of temporary management by a young colleague.

Who that will be is still completely open.

Police Poing with many young forces

In any case, Hintereder has always experienced the PI Poing as a (training) agency with high turnover.

According to the 61-year-old, it was never possible to recruit enough young people who came from the communities for which the department is responsible.

The service area: Poing, Pliening, Vaterstetten, Zorneding, Anzing, Forstinning and Markt Schwaben.

That's why Poing always had to rely on young people from other administrative districts.

Provided with a minimum retention period of three years.

The vast majority felt comfortable here, assures Hintereder.

But as the boss, he had to keep saying: "We lack the experience."

Sooner or later, many young civil servants were therefore drawn back home.

Unlike in the private sector, you can't just add a few bills to the police salary to motivate an employee to stay, it was said at the regulars' table that Swabia's former mayor Bernhard Winter has been organizing for some time (we reported).

Annually 2600 penalties in the service area

There was and still is enough work at PI Poing.

2600 criminal offenses were last registered per year.

In larger communities tends to be more than in the smaller towns.

Street working, Hintereder said when asked at the regulars' table, would be good and also make sense.

But here, too, there is a problem that is very specific to the region around Munich: Basically, nobody can be found for the salary that can be paid to such workers, according to the future pensioner.

An example: The street work position in Poing has been vacant since September 2021.
