The evening will be, as every year, under close surveillance.
For New Year's Eve, the police headquarters has planned to mobilize 5,400 members of the police for Paris and the inner suburbs, according to a press release published on Friday.
To get to the Champs-Élysées area, from where the traditional midnight fireworks will take place, the public will have to go through pre-filtering points.
According to the press release, the police will be able to “carry out inspections and searches of luggage” and even “security pat-downs”.
In addition, the sale of alcohol to take away and its consumption on public roads will be prohibited from 6 p.m. this Saturday around the avenue des Champs-Élysées.
Restricted traffic
Traffic will be prohibited in several areas of the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements of Paris.
Several metro and RER stations will be closed - even if connections will be maintained there.
Anticipate your trips.
