A taxi robbery case occurred in the Eastern Corridor.

A 60-year-old taxi driver was picking up a drunk male passenger in Yau Ma Tei to Chai Wan. On the way, the driver was suspected of being dissatisfied with the slow speed of the car, and punched and robbed him.

When the driver had no choice but to stop in the Eastern District Corridor, he was snatched by a drunk and the taxi was driven away and abandoned on the highway.

More than an hour after the incident, the taxi involved was driving in the wrong direction in the Western District, but was intercepted by the police and the suspected man was arrested.

The taxi driver who was involved in the accident, surnamed Li, was sent to the hospital for treatment with minor injuries.

He recalled the incident and said that at about 5 in the morning, he picked up the male passenger involved in the case at the junction of Parkes Street and Jordan Road in Yau Ma Tei to Hing Wah Village, Chai Wan. He drove slowly, chattered, and became more violent when passing the Red Tunnel, trying to snatch the steering wheel.

Lai said, "He kept beating me from behind and robbing my car!"

When the taxi drove to the Eastern District Corridor, Lai was punched on the head and face by the other party again. He felt dizzy and immediately parked the car on the side of the road for safety reasons.

Lai explained: "It's dangerous, so I have to park the lower car!" The man immediately took the driver's seat and drove the car away, leaving him on the road.

"Seeing me get out of the car, he got out of the car again, got into my seat and drove away (taxi), but he couldn't stop him!" Lai lamented that he had been injured by drunken passengers before, but unexpectedly encountered similar incidents again.

Mr. Li, the taxi driver who was attacked, was sent to hospital for treatment.

At 6:24 in the morning, some citizens found a taxi driving in the wrong direction on Cadogan Street in the Western District, and they called the police because they thought it was dangerous.

The police arrived at the scene and intercepted a taxi at Pokfield Road near Smithfield Road. Its left front tire was smashed. After investigation, it was determined that the taxi was robbed in the Eastern Corridor. The man in the car was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Investigation is underway now.
