For the first time, the use of digging holes to hide drugs and cover wooden boards to cover parking

Superintendent Lau Kai-peng of the Narcotics Investigation Bureau said that this operation found that drug dealers used the method of burrowing to hide drugs for the first time in order to evade police detection.

The police found a 1.8-meter-long, 1.2-meter-wide, and 0.5-meter-deep hole in the warehouse of Tangren New Village involved.

The drug dealer covered a large amount of debris with drugs, and then covered it with a wooden board, and a private car was parked on the wooden board.

Officers seized a car key from one of the arrestees, drove away and found 396 bricks of cocaine hidden in a hole in the ground.

In the 300-foot iron house in Baisha Village, the police seized 28 kilograms of drugs.

Senior Inspector Ng Ka-lun pointed out that the bricks of cocaine were sealed and packaged with adhesive tape and waterproof packaging. A large number of waterproof bags were also found at the scene, and Spanish words were printed on the packaging and there was moisture. It is believed that the drugs arrived in Hong Kong by sea from South America.

Drug dealers also deliberately chose remote village houses in the New Territories as warehouses, and there are car repair workshops nearby as a cover.

Arrested 5 local men and women, some of them were from triad background

During the operation, the police arrested 4 men and 1 woman, aged between 22 and 25, including the backbone of the group, and some of them had triad backgrounds.

All arrested persons are being detained for investigation and provisionally charged with one count of drug trafficking.

The police also pointed out that the group has a careful division of labor. Some people are responsible for management and arranging the work of members, while others are responsible for renting, managing warehouses, transportation, and separating and storing drugs.

The police believe that the syndicate hoarded drugs on New Year's Eve in an attempt to sell them on the black market to raise prices.

The operation has successfully intercepted the criminal proceeds of gang members and attacked their source of income.

From January to December this year, the police cracked a total of 410 drug cases involving cocaine, and 530 people were arrested, of which 86 were teenagers under the age of 21.

Compared with the same period last year, 582 people were arrested in drug-related crimes, a decrease of 8.9%.

Zhang Tianle, Senior Superintendent of the Narcotics Investigation Bureau, denounced that it is quite shameful for drug trafficking syndicates to hand over high-risk jobs to "surrogate ghosts" and then provide little remuneration. He described drug dealers as "parasites that destroy society."

The police appealed to the public not to touch drugs during the celebration of the holiday.

The police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the "Dangerous Drugs Ordinance" Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, any drug trafficker, once convicted, can be sentenced to a maximum fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment.

If citizens have any information about drugs, they can call the 24-hour drug reporting hotline 25271234.
