District

– A few weeks ago, numerous apartments and houses of so-called Reich citizens were searched as part of a nationwide raid.

A ring of enemies of the constitution who wanted to use force of arms to overthrow Germany was dissolved.

In this context, Bavaria's Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann, called for gun controls to be significantly tightened, particularly in the middle-class milieu.

However, according to the Weilheim-Schongau district office, this is not so easily possible.

"The district office carries out gun controls regularly and consistently," it says when asked by the local newspaper.

The controls are laborious and time-consuming.

"From the point of view of the district office, the checks currently carried out in terms of number and frequency are appropriate and sufficient.

Without additional staff, no additional controls

It is difficult to expand the controls in the long term without additional staff, ”writes the press spokesman for the district office, Hans Rehbehn.

Weapons controls took place on a total of eleven dates this year.

A total of 232 gun owners in the district were checked.

The employees of the district office paid particular attention to the proper storage of weapons and ammunition.

During the checks, which according to the press office take place "basically unannounced", a total of twelve violations of the gun law were found.

In all cases, administrative offense proceedings were then initiated and the weapons license was withdrawn.

In one case, criminal proceedings were initiated that could end up in court.

The person concerned was not able to produce the appropriate weapons license for one of his weapons.

Violations of the gun law are not a trivial offense, the penalties are severe: "Basically, any violation of storage regulations leads to the unreliability of the gun owner and is therefore a reason for revocation of the gun permit." Or in plain English: the guns are confiscated.

Violations of the storage regulations can also be punished with fines of up to 10,000 euros.

The district office also confirmed that at least one of the checks carried out raised the suspicion that the gun owner was a Reich citizen.

As reported, the police headquarters reports people who are demonstrably close to the Reich citizens to the district offices.

A Reich citizenship automatically means that there is “unreliability” and thus the license to own a gun expires.

30 weapons were given voluntarily

During the controls carried out by the district office this year, a total of 30 weapons were voluntarily handed over, according to the district office's response to the request from the local newspaper.

As part of a revocation procedure, those affected would have the option of either handing over their weapons to authorized persons or submitting them to the weapons authority within four weeks.

The confiscated weapons would be handed over to the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office for destruction after the procedure was completed, said district press spokesman Hans Rehbehn in his reply.

Violent clashes have repeatedly occurred in the past when gun controls take place in the Reich bourgeois milieu.

A serious danger for the officials in charge of the controls.

For security reasons, however, the district office did not want to explain exactly what specific measures are being taken to protect employees in the performance of their duties.

In special cases, however, the police are directly involved in the controls, it said.
