This is the right way to load and arrange the dishwasher for perfect results (brunchwithbabs)
Those who use a dishwasher are probably used to washing their dishes first and simply placing them in the free space in the appliance without any planning or strategy.
In many cases we also place dishes on top of each other and trust the dishwasher to do the job.
Cleaning expert Barbara Costello claims that with a little thought and advance planning - your dishes will come out of the dishwasher really shiny and not with food residue as we are used to.
Barbara Costello, the woman behind the hit TikTok page Brunch With Babs, shared a video with do's and don'ts when loading the dishwasher — and her video quickly racked up over 5 million views.
In the video, she first demonstrates how your dishwasher must look - and then begins to arrange it in the most correct and efficient way.
Her tips make so much sense that there's no way you'll go back to your previous loading method.
Here are some of the tips she shares in the video:

1. Stop washing dishes before you put them in the dishwasher
It is not clear why we got used to washing dishes before we put them in the dishwasher - its entire function is to wash our dishes.
The cleaning expert claims that we must stop this disgusting habit because instead of making it easier for the dishwasher to do its job, you are actually preventing it from doing its job.
"You're wasting water, you're wasting energy," Costello told Today, "You have to throw the leftovers of the food straight into the garbage without washing the dishes. You have to leave your dishwasher to work or it will lose its effectiveness."

2. Do not put in the dishwasher dishes that are not intended for it
Do not put wooden items or sharp knives in the dishwasher.
A quality wooden cutting board is an expensive thing, so Costello recommends keeping this valuable item out of the dishwasher.
"The cleaning agents will just strip the finish. There is oil in the wood, it will eventually crack," she explained.
(Don't worry, we have cutting board cleaning methods for you) The
same idea applies to an expensive set of kitchen knives.
"The silver will lose its sparkle, the dishwasher is going to wear out the knife," she added.

3. Place delicate items on the top shelf
The top rack of your dishwasher is reserved for delicate dishes such as glasses, mugs and small bowls.
Costello recommends placing your coffee mugs side by side - without touching each other so they don't crack.
The top shelf has prongs (the pointy things that hold your dishes in place).
Do not put the tools on the teeth but next to them (as you can see in the video).
The bowls were placed upside down (face down), the spatula was placed between the cups and the bowls and the tall wine glasses were to be placed on the pointed teeth and use a stabilizer (yes, there is such a thing in the machine. Watch the video) to prevent them from moving.

4. Adjust the top rack of your dishwasher
Following on from her previous tip, it is possible that when pushing the shelf in, the tall wine glasses will prevent it from closing.
Don't worry: it turns out that the top shelf of the dishwasher is adjustable.
By pressing the handles on the sides of the shelf, you can lower it a little and thus allow the shelf with the taller dishes you placed on it to go inside without a problem.
Many viewers did not even know that the top shelf of the dishwasher could be raised or lowered and created reaction videos on TikTok and Instagram, as you can see here:

More secrets of the dishwasher
You are using your dishwasher tablets incorrectly - and you are just ruining the dishwasher for yourself
, this is why the dishes come out of the dishwasher dirty - and it is entirely your fault
5. Arrange the dishes correctly on your bottom shelf
The dishes in the bottom drawer should be arranged so that they face the center and not the other way around.
Although she does not usually put pans and pots in the dishwasher, she suggests that if you do - they should be placed at the front of the shelf.
When it comes to cutlery - the knives should be placed down so that they are safe to retrieve. She separates the forks from the spoons (and spoons) so that it is easier to arrange them later. She added that the spoons should be spread well so that they do not "make spoons" and remain dirty.
Finally, she recommends checking that nothing prevents the water spray fan from rotating freely.
