(ANSA) - TRIESTE, DECEMBER 29 - The association Restorers without frontiers (RSF) of Rome on the occasion of the Christmas holidays joined the "Save Ukraine Art 22" project with the aim of opening a second front of aid within the project itself, born last March, to collect donations of materials and equipment from private individuals to protect and move works of art in Ukraine.
The RSF association is engaged in many war zones, where over time it has gained great experience in the protection of works of art.
On this occasion, the Ukrainian National Research and Restoration Institute, based in Lviv, through Save Ukraine Art 22 - a project coordinated by Lucio Gomiero among others - released a video to launch an appeal and ask for donations to defend art, a sector to which, obviously, aid arrives last, after that for people in difficulty.
The video underlines that materials and tools are needed for restorers to continue their work avoiding loss or damage to works of art.
“We would be very grateful,” says director Taras Otkovich.
You are echoed by Myroslava BiletskaZvarych, who coordinates restoration projects, thanking you for the help received which has enabled the purchase of paints and other materials.
Biletska Zvarych explains that these are used to "restore easel paintings, icons on wood, on canvas, polychrome sculptures" and asks for offers to continue the work.
Two months ago the third expedition of SaveArt left Udine, thanks to the involvement of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, through The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, destined for Kiev.
To support the costs, donations from private individuals and the generosity of the Accademia Carrara Foundation of Bergamo were important.
The work of the project's logistic partner, the Ceccarelli Group, from whose logistics centers in Milan, Florence and Udine all the loads departed, was invaluable.
