According to several reports, a flood of Christmas cards is reaching the job centers this year.

This is based on false information from social media.

Hamburg – Apparently the job centers received a particularly large number of Christmas cards this year.

"We're receiving a lot of Christmas cards this year, including from refugees from Ukraine.

The cards are a nice gesture of thanks and recognition of the work of our colleagues," said a spokeswoman for the Hamburg job center in response to a request from the

Hamburger Morgenpost

.

Ukrainian refugees: false information about alleged Christmas bonus

However, behind the many Christmas cards there is false information that is circulating on social media, especially among Ukrainian refugees.

Videos in Russian and Ukrainian can be seen on the social media platform TikTok, in which the false news is spread that the job centers in Germany pay 100 euros if you send them a Christmas card in an envelope.

Such a video, for example, now has more than 400,000 views.

The job centers know about the existence of these videos and pointed out once again in this context that this rumor is not true.

The Wolfsburg job center writes on its website: “We have received many Christmas and greeting cards in the last few days and weeks.

We would like to inform you that you will not receive a Christmas bonus for a written card!

This information from the net is not correct!

Nevertheless, we are very happy about every Christmas card.”

Job center: No Christmas bonus for Hartz IV recipients

According to the Morgenpost

, the Ukrainian support staff in Hamburg is working

with the local job center to make it clear that this is misinformation.

The authorities do not pay an extra Christmas bonus to recipients of Hartz IV.

There are exceptions in individual smaller municipalities such as Burghausen, which have decided to pay Christmas allowances to the unemployed.

But you don't have to send a Christmas card for this - even if it's a nice gesture.
