"Anna - the cross of rule" was the name of the open-air play that was performed in the castle courtyard in July.

It was actually planned for 2020, when Reichersbeuern was 1000 years old.

But it was only celebrated this year.

The mayor of Reichersbeur, Ernst Dieckmann, looks back at the annual meeting of the municipal council and asks that everyone stick together.

Flowers were also given to volunteers.

Reichersbeuern – One of the established practices in the Reichersbeuer municipal council is that the meeting is interrupted for the ringing of the prayer bell, and that a service is celebrated in the parish church of St. Korbinian before the end-of-year meeting in December.

The municipal councils had to break with the latter tradition during the pandemic years.

This year, however, they were again able to celebrate a thanksgiving service together with Pastor Quirin Strobl.

Bouquets of flowers for volunteers

After going to church, Mayor Ernst Dieckmann surprised some deserving honorary citizens with bouquets of flowers in the town hall's meeting room and gave a particularly warm welcome to honorary citizen and former mayor Hans Harrer.

"It was not a normal year," Dieckmann then stated.

"The past three years have completely changed life." The corona pandemic and the war in Europe caused by Russia's attack on Ukraine have had an impact in many ways, even in the community of Reichersbeuern.

The energy crisis and rising costs, for example, have kept the community busy.

“We must continue to prepare for turbulent times.

But it's important that we stand together, especially in difficult times," said Dieckmann.

"I think we've done quite well so far."

Preparations have been made for the hopefully not occurring “blackout”, explained the head of the town hall.

The community has purchased a large emergency generator, which can be used to supply the school and gymnasium with electricity and thus also with heat in the event of prolonged power failures.

Both buildings serve as contact points for citizens if necessary.

Review of many topics

Among the important issues discussed in the municipal council were, for example, the conversion of the old town hall, which now houses a family doctor's office, and the conversion of office space to accommodate three refugee families from the Donbas.

An average of 30 people who had fled the turmoil of war were able to find temporary accommodation in the Reichersbeur Castle with changing occupancy rates.

A very good decision was the construction of the local heating network, which the municipal council has taken to the next level with its yes to the expansion.

The changes in the energy sector from February "have resulted in the already good demand increasing again significantly," reported Dieckmann.

There will be many changes in this sector in the coming year.

The construction of the wood chip cogeneration plant has already begun.

In addition, the network is to be extensively expanded in 2023.

That's due in 2023

This year, the district road Töl 13 was renovated from the railway underpass to the beginning of Reichersbeuern.

The resulting milled material was installed directly in the part of the Schongerweg that had not yet been expanded.

Next year, the missing section from the entrance to Raiffeisenstrasse is to be renewed and the existing sidewalk along Sachsenkamer Strasse is to be extended to Ruhpointhöhe.

My space

After several attempts, it was also possible this year to catch up on the theater play at the castle planned as part of the 1000-year celebration and the concert by the Fäaschtbänkler.

According to Dieckmann, both were very successful events that showed that the cooperation in the place was right.

He also ventured a look ahead.

"In 2023, village renewal will come back more to the fore," he said.

The decision from the government of Upper Bavaria should arrive in January at the latest.

After that, projects such as the design of the village center can be tackled and the renovation of the county road through the village can be completed.

Thanks for good cooperation

At the end, Dieckmann thanked the associations for their important work and for the good cooperation with the church.

He also addressed a heartfelt "Vergelt's Gott" to all citizens who volunteer for the public good.

He thanked all the employees and the municipal council - above all his deputies Andreas Melf and Klaus Harrer - for the good and trusting cooperation.
