After a forced break of two years, rockets and firecrackers are being sold again.
Many want to let it rip on New Year's Eve and don't skimp on the fireworks.
Munich - Inflation and rising prices are a burden for many consumers - but the New Year's firecrackers are obviously not being saved.
Dealers in Bavaria report a run on fireworks.
New Year's Eve 2022: "Many want to let it rip" - demand for fireworks "enormous"
Judging by retail sales figures, the New Year's fireworks display in Bavaria should be spectacular.
"The demand is enormous," said Bernd Ohlmann, Managing Director of the Bavarian Trade Association, of the German Press Agency.
A double-digit million amount is shot into the air on New Year's Eve: after a two-year forced break due to Corona, fireworks in Bavaria have at least reached the sales of 21 million euros from 2019, which was a record at the time.
"Many want to really let it rip," says Ohlmann.
Despite inflation and rising prices, no savings are made on fireworks.

New Year's Eve 2022: "Fight for the last rocket" at the fireworks sale
At the start of the fireworks sale on Thursday, December 29, people would have been waiting in front of the shops before 8 a.m.
Many retailers have not been able to keep up with the refilling of the shelves.
Sometimes it looked like a "fight for the last rocket" on the shelves.
Dealers in other federal states also reported a run on the New Year's firecrackers, Ohlmann continued.
Not only had there been no fireworks for two years, but the weather was also fine on New Year's Eve.
"There is no rain announced." That will probably also attract some buyers on Saturday.
Even the warmest New Year's Eve since 1881 is possible - it could get up to 21 degrees in some places.
"Many retailers say that everything could be sold out this year."
Customers tended to use almost professional products, such as high-impact battery fireworks.

New Year's Eve 2022: Fireworks are getting greener and greener
Even if doctors, environmentalists and animal rights activists see the banging critically: the fireworks will at least be greener.
Launch pads and rocket heads are now mostly made of wood and paper.
According to Ohlmann, almost 50 percent of the firecrackers are sold over the counter at discounters, 30 percent in supermarkets, and the rest in gas stations and stationery shops, among others.
