Hans Peter Hallwachs is dead. The actor and radio play speaker died at the age of 84.

Berlin – The actor and radio play speaker Hans Peter Hallwachs is dead. He died in Berlin on December 16 and was 84 years old, as the German Press Agency learned from the family on Friday (December 30).

Hallwachs was one of the busiest character actors on German television, but he was almost always seen in supporting roles.

"For us he always played leading roles, throughout a long, fulfilling life," says a family obituary.

Hallwachs starred in 16 crime scenes on ARD alone.

Among them also in the very first episode of the successful crime series entitled "Taxi nach Leipzig", which appeared in 1970.

In the 1000th "Tatort" episode of the same name from 2016, the actor was also seen on the TV sets.

In addition, Hallwachs had 13 appearances in the ZDF series "Der Alte".

Numerous fans shared their grief over the actor's death on Twitter.

"Loved to see him, very sorry!" wrote one user.

“Hans Peter Hallwachs – a unique voice, an unmistakable actor.

Peace on his soul," tweeted another user.

Another fan also mourned the death: "What a damn fine actor.

Take care, dear Hans Peter Hallwachs.”

Actor Hans Peter Hallwachs is dead: voice has cult status among radio play fans

His career began in the 1960s.

In the Erich Kästner film "Fabian" (1980), the Berliner played the title role.

TV viewers also know his face from the ARD series "Mord mit Aussicht", where he played the father of Sophie Haas (Caroline Peters).

He also took part in "The Great Bellheim" (1993).

In 2020 he could be seen in a new case of the ZDF series "Letzte Spur Berlin".

Hallwachs' voice has cult status among radio play fans.

Among other things, he can be heard in many Raymond Chandler settings of the 1980s.

His leading role in Edward Boyd's "Five Fingers Make a Hand" from 1969 is also considered a classic of West German crime radio plays.
