The road claimed a new victim in the Val-d'Oise at the very end of the year.

A 59-year-old man died in an accident this Friday evening in Marly-la-Ville on the D 9, linking Mériel to Vémars.

It was a little after 8 p.m. when the driver of a Renault Twingo lost control of her vehicle in a bend.

She then found herself on the other lane where her car hit a Renault Mégane, carrying a family and traveling in the opposite direction.

When help arrived on the scene, the passenger in the Twingo was already in cardio-respiratory arrest.

The care provided did not allow him to be resuscitated and the latter was shortly afterwards declared dead by the Smur doctor.

A heavy toll in 2022

The 57-year-old driver was rushed to Gonesse hospital, as were the four people in the Mégane.

These, less seriously injured, nevertheless remained very shocked.

If the exact circumstances of the accident have yet to be established by the investigation entrusted to the gendarmerie of Roissy-en-France, the roadway made slippery by the rain could be in question.

This death comes on top of the already heavy count of the number of deaths on the roads of Val-d'Oise in 2022, a sharp increase compared to 2021. At the beginning of September, 23 people had indeed already died on the roads of Val-d'Oise. department, a total already greater than that recorded over the entire previous year (21 deaths).
