Police and firefighters raid unlicensed bar in Kwun Tong industrial building and arrest 12 people for alcoholic drinks

During the operation, officers smashed up an unlicensed bar in an industrial unit on Kwun Tong Road and seized 170 sticks of beer and spirits with a total value of about HK$10,000.

The police arrested 12 people, of whom 8 men and 3 women (aged between 45 and 54) were alcoholics and were arrested on suspicion of "drinking in a place without a liquor license"; He was arrested for "selling alcoholic beverages" and "possessing alcoholic beverages without a license for sale".


During the operation, officers of the Fire Services Department also conducted inspections in many buildings in Kwun Tong to investigate whether any premises owner failed to provide fire-fighting installations or equipment for the premises in compliance with the legal requirements, violating the Fire Safety (Industrial Buildings) Ordinance, Chapter 636 of the Laws of Hong Kong " and stacking sundries in the fire escapes of industrial buildings, in violation of the Fire Services (Fire Hazard Elimination) Regulations, Cap. 95.

During the inspection, officers of the Fire Services Department found violations of fire regulations in many places in the building, and immediately took enforcement actions to request the relevant persons to eliminate the fire hazard.

Officers of the Police Force and the Fire Services Department appeal to the public not to patronize unlicensed bars. Apart from breaking the law, staying in substandard premises may also cause fire and other potential dangers.

In order to prevent the spread of the above situation, the Kwun Tong Police District has referred 224 industrial building units suspected of violating the Lands Ordinance to the Lands Department since 2021.

Staff of the Lands Department have also taken follow-up actions.
