The Berlin Greens politician Bettina Jarasch has the late former Pope Benedict XVI.
critically appreciated.
"Benedict XVI.
was a pope who repeatedly put me to the test as a Catholic because he prevented urgently needed reforms in the Catholic Church and wrapped the cloak of silence over important debates," said the Berlin Senator for the Environment on Saturday in Berlin.
Berlin - "But the fact that he himself had the courage and strength to pave the way for a new election during his lifetime and thus indirectly opened doors for reforms commands respect from me."
The pope emeritus died on Saturday at the age of 95 in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery in the Vatican.
Jarasch, the Green Party's top candidate for re-election to the House of Representatives on February 12, is also a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics.
