On Ratzinger's death, the Archbishop wrote: "His longing for God is now fulfilled." Olaf Scholz and Emmanuel Macron also commented on the death of the Pope Emeritus.

Recently it was reported that the health of the Pope Emeritus was deteriorating.

According to media reports, Ratzinger suffered from kidney problems.

The Vatican has not yet commented on this.
