According to "Bolmberg", Washington is examining the transfer of "Bradley" type APCs to the Ukrainian army.

The US is considering transferring M-2 "Bradley" APCs to the Ukrainian army, the American newspaper "Bloomberg" reported.

Although it is not an official decision, the possibility that the Ukrainian army, which is conducting a stubborn war against the Russian army that invaded Ukraine more than ten months ago, is one that can significantly tilt the scale in favor of Kyiv.

A senior Pentagon official confirmed to "Bloomberg" the holding of the discussions on the "Bradley" issue.

How can an almost 40-year-old armed APC become a game-breaking weapon in the terrible war of attrition that is taking place in the south and east of Ukraine? The answer lies in the upgrades and improvements the vehicle has received over the years, as well as in the great Ukrainian need for an armored vehicle with proven anti-tank capability.

The US has more than 2,000 units of Bradley APCs in dry storage and the US military does not use or need them.

That is why the amount of units that the Americans can transfer within a few months to Kyiv is large and so is the amount of spare parts available for the APCs.

The "Bradley" armored vehicles underwent various upgrades over the years and received thicker armor, the option to add reactive shielding as well as an improvement to its 25 millimeter cannon and anti-tank missiles mounted on the turret.

In military terms, "Bradley" is considered a "mini tank" and can carry a crew of three operators and seven fighters.

It is not a new or highly sophisticated weapon system, but one that proved itself with a Soviet-made rocket launcher during the Gulf War and the invasion of Iraq, and the Ukrainian army suffers from a major shortage of armored combat vehicles. The "Bradley" is also suitable for the Ukrainian tactic of short and mobile incursions due to its low fuel consumption relatively and its large operating range compared to other armored vehicles. Also, Washington does not fear that the transfer of weapons of this model will constitute a significant escalation vis-à-vis Moscow since much more sophisticated weapons have already been sent to the Ukrainian army in the past.

In the meantime, media outlets in Ukraine published today that a precision missile attack by the Ukrainian army hit the headquarters of the Russian military command in southern Ukraine and that 11 middle-ranking officers were killed in the shelling.

No injuries were reported, but the names of the dead were published on social media.
