The weather in Germany is mild and stormy on New Year's Eve and New Year.
Even in the first week of the new year there is no winter in sight.
Munich – According to
wetter.de
, the first heat records for New Year's Eve have already been broken.
The thermometer in Baden-Baden showed an incredible 17.6 degrees, in Freiburg 18.4 degrees and in Pulheim (NRW) 17.8 degrees.
Especially between Baden-Baden and the Kaiserstuhl in Baden-Württemberg, the chances of a record heat of up to 22 degrees could be good, said a DWD expert in Stuttgart.
The weather on New Year's Eve 2022 in Germany will be unusually mild - so mild that you have to go back to the 19th century to find similar temperatures.
But for Germany, the temperatures by no means mean a relaxed, balmy New Year's Eve: In many places, strong gusts of wind and storms are to be expected, and rain will fall in some places.
At midnight it is still eleven to 16 degrees warm locally, only in Bavaria (with little wind) are there cooler five to ten degrees.
The lows in the morning were locally 10 to 14 degrees - that's also a record!
Only in Bavaria were there colder four to nine degrees and locally fog.
The DWD warning map showed around noon (between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.) level 1 and 2 warnings of partly striking weather – with stormy gusts.
On the Brocken (Harz) even gusts of wind are possible.

Strong upper currents and the front of Liddy bring exceptionally mild air from areas between the Azores and the Canary Islands to Germany.
This mild air flow is supposed to break off on Monday.
However, it is not foreseeable that the temperatures will drop or that snow will be in sight again.
Temperatures are expected to remain above the seasonal average.
