And I wish it was all up to this point: the increasing cost of living has naturally affected the self-employed and small business owners • They talk about the prices they had to raise and the reactions of consumers

The wave of price increases that swept us over the past year and continues now at the beginning of January, caused a jump in prices in almost every area: food, property taxes, electricity, water, rent, fuel and more.

The increasing cost of living naturally affected the self-employed and small business owners, who talk about the prices they had to raise and the reactions of consumers.

Aharon Idinov,

Aharon Idinov, married and father of two from Gush Etzion, owns a catering and food truck in the smoked meats sector.

The business, called "Baba Yaga Smoke House" operates mainly in Gush Etzion.

Idinov says that "when I started the business three years ago, I sold an asado sandwich for NIS 18. I quickly realized that it was not profitable and raised it to NIS 28, which was a reasonable price at the time. Two years later, the price of a sandwich is NIS 50. The price of 28 shekels was profitable at the beginning, but meat prices rose by more than 10 shekels per kg, vegetable prices rose, the price of bread rose, and more.

"On top of that, all the suppliers around have raised their prices: from the suppliers of the disposable utensils to the level of suppliers of equipment rental for catering. Prices have risen in all areas."

"Customers understand"

Samdar Levy, a beautician and owner of a boutique clinic in her home in Rehovot, married and a mother of five, also finds it difficult to cope.

"I haven't raised prices for 10 years, from the moment I returned to the field. In the last year I started raising the prices of facial treatments and complementary treatments such as eyebrows and mustaches. It was not pleasant, but I no longer had a choice. Everything went up and the salary does not change.

Samdar Levy,

"Expenses all around have gone up on a personal level as well. The supermarket has gone up by hundreds of shekels a week. I have a clinic at home and I also invest in treats all around. My prices have gone up by about 10 percent."

Hades Manor,

Hadas Manor, married and mother of four, who owns a wedding dress studio in her neighborhood in Jerusalem, says that she had to resort to creative ways in light of the high cost of living.

"In addition to the fact that the raw materials are becoming more expensive, there is a lot of competition for the employees. The big resignation scene was two years ago, and then I already realized that I was in competition as an employer and that this made the costs in the studio more expensive. I had to raise the hourly wage."
