The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted at dawn today, by majority, a Palestinian draft resolution, calling on the International Court of Justice to consider the issue of the Israeli occupation.
The Palestinian Wafa Agency stated that the resolution received a vote of 87 countries, and 25 countries and the occupying entity opposed it, while 53 countries abstained from voting.
The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, said: The United Nations requested, with this vote, an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice regarding the violation of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, occupation, settlement and annexation.
In turn, the Palestinian Presidency affirmed that the General Assembly's vote in favor of the resolution proves the international community's support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, stressing the need to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes that violate international laws and covenants.
