"Like a small family": The Neufahrner MS Group is looking for reinforcements

It has existed since 2018, the MS Group Neufahrn.
But founder Josef Schwarzwalder (59) is worried about her future.
We are looking for new members.

- "We currently have a maximum of 13 members.
And the trend is declining.” That is why they are looking for new members.
Black Forest promises: "We're a nice bunch." In October, they even go on vacation together.
Some friendships have already developed in the group
"We couldn't be more different, but we still fit together wonderfully and complement each other." With these words, the group introduces itself to interested parties on its homepage https://msgruppeneufahrn.de.
Even if the whole thing sounds so positive, the background is a serious one.
After all, the majority of members suffer from multiple sclerosis – in different stages of the disease.
But that's exactly why, according to Josef Schwarzwälder, "we want to offer those affected and their families a contact point with our MS group meetings to exchange ideas and learn to live with the disease and to accept it".
Not only did friendships develop, you sometimes already feel “like a small family,” says the 59-year-old.
Black Forest: "Important help for living with the disease"
In the meantime, however, Black Forest and Co. are convinced that their "family" urgently needs an addition.
So anyone who has MS, lives in the southern district and would like to talk to others about the disease is in the right place.
Josef Schwarzwalder: "Communicating with other MS sufferers can provide important support for living with the disease - and you no longer feel alone".
Neufahrner, who initially belonged to a similar group in Freising for two years, knows this from his own experience.
"I found the group to be very valuable and took a lot of positive things with me."
The fact that he himself founded such a group in Neufahrn four years ago was due to the advanced course of his illness: "The way to Freising was too far, the effort too great,

The Neufahrner MS group, which consists of seven patients and six relatives, meets for dinner every second Tuesday of the month either in the Gasthof Maisberger or in the "Mailis" on the market square.
"And we also have other issues than our illness," promises the "boss".
For example, the holiday together in Mallorca, which is planned for October 2023.

What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system.
The entire brain and spinal cord can be affected.
The immune system destroys parts of the nerve fibers that are important for the transmission of impulses.
Symptoms of paralysis and coordination problems of the muscles occur.
The forms range from a mild form with hardly noticeable impairments to more severe courses with permanent disability.
