Almost 21 degrees on New Year's Eve: record temperatures in Bavaria - also Munich with a new high

A place in Upper Bavaria set a new record with a view to the New Year's weather.
The old high from Kempten was clearly exceeded.
Munich - Bright sunshine and mild temperatures - the turn of the year felt more like spring in Bavaria.
But now a cold front is approaching the Free State.
Bright sunshine on New Year's Eve - record temperatures in Upper Bavaria
2023 was heralded with mild temperatures.
Already on New Year's Eve there were record temperatures in some places in Bavaria.
In Wielenbach (district of Weilheim-Schongau), it was 20.8 degrees warmer than ever before in a Bavarian town on New Year's Eve.
The highest temperature measured on a New Year's Eve in Bavaria was the year before.
In 2021 the thermometer in Kempten climbed to 16.8 degrees.
Munich also delivered a record value of 20 degrees.
The temperature was once again well above the previous New Year's record of 15.6 degrees, which was measured last year in the Bavarian state capital.

After record weather on New Year's Eve: cold front is coming - gusts possible
However, on Monday, January 2nd, according to the German Weather Service (DWD), a cold front will move in from the north-west, which may bring clouds and rain.
Stormy gusts can occur at higher altitudes.
On New Year's Eve the thermometer in Munich climbed to 20 degrees.

According to a DWD spokesman, there will be no temperatures like on New Year's Eve for the time being.
"In the course of the week, from Tuesday, it will be back in the single digits."
