Screaming babies and engine noises are some of the most annoying things on flights, especially if they are long • We tested some noise isolating headphones - and came away with impressions

Many shy away from the experience of flying and find it difficult to pass the time on the plane, which can sometimes take a good few hours.

The noises of the engines, the screaming babies and the other sounds emanating from the cabin, may disturb quite a few passengers.

Because of this, many choose to use noise-isolating headphones.

We tested some of the headphones that are also intended for flying, and we mainly referred to everything that might interfere during the flight.

• The secret you didn't know and could cause you to miss your flight

• This is the hard blow that awaits the taxi drivers who sting tourists in Netav

• You don't have to give up the flight: the methods to issue a passport without waiting months

Convenience is the name of the game

The best noise cancellation among the headphones we tested was the Sony WH-1000XM5B.

How good was the insulation?

At first it felt a bit strange to us, really disconnected from the environment, such that the very loud noises that were around us did not penetrate the headphones.

The audio quality is very clean and natural.

What is important to many pilots is comfort, and even here Sony did it right.

We managed to last about three hours without feeling the need to remove the headphones, which means that both the weight and the contact with the skin and ears were comfortable and pleasant.

It is important to emphasize that these are relatively large headphones, which may be less convenient for some users, but it did not bother us.

The headphones come with a designed carrying case and their battery life is relatively long, reaching about 30 hours in practice.

Long battery life

Beoplay HX headphones from Denmark, which have recently become a hit, offer a very interesting option for those looking for noise isolation, and they do it with a particularly interesting design.

The headphones are designed in a modern style with a combination of aluminum and leather, and one of their biggest advantages is the long-lasting comfort in terms of weight and shape.

However, since the headphones are made of leather, in hot weather you may feel the need to refresh your ears after prolonged listening.

The battery life is very long, and according to the manufacturer's instructions reach about 40 hours of working time.

In our test it was very close to that and stood at 37 hours.

The noise insulation is excellent and manages to do the job, even when we were sitting close to the engine and when there was a cute little baby in front of us that cried from time to time.

Bottom line, this is an excellent product that will make you feel comfortable even on a long flight.

No dramas

If you've been looking for headphones that are a little smaller but whose isolation is no less than excellent, the new Bose model, Bose Quiet Comfort 45, can do the job for you.

The isolation was excellent and the sound was clean, but the headphones themselves were a little less comfortable during long use.

After a while, we even felt the need to remove them for a few minutes.

In general, these are excellent headphones, without too many dramatic changes from the previous model (the 35) and it's a good thing, since it was a very successful model.

Here, too, these are light headphones compared to over-ear headphones (what is called in Israel "Rainbow headphones").

They are insulated and foldable, and according to the manufacturer's instructions they have a battery life of 24 hours - and for us it felt quite accurate.

Water resistance

Large headphones that cover the entire ear are not suitable for everyone, so we looked at two more interesting options.

The first was the Jabra Elite 7 Pro, relatively small in-ear headphones that do an excellent job in terms of noise cancellation, especially given the fact that in almost no case will headphones of this type be able to isolate as well as over-ear headphones.

The sound is clean, and most importantly for the headphones - they are light and almost imperceptible in the ear, which allows for a comfortable user experience over time.

Other headphones that can be positively mentioned in the in-ear headphone segment are the Beoplay Ex, which above all are simply beautiful.

The clean sound, the light weight and the successful isolation make these headphones excellent for those who prefer in-ear headphones during the flight.

On top of that, they are also water resistant, which is less relevant for taxis.

Their battery life is relatively reasonable for headphones of this type, about six to eight hours, but their charging is fast - we charged them for 20 minutes, and they worked for us for about two hours.
