Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, confirmed that the International Court of Justice will examine the legal implications of the continued violations of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, depriving the Palestinian people of their rights and all issues related to settlements, colonial annexation plans, and the demolition of Palestinian homes and facilities.

WAFA news agency quoted Mansour as saying today: “The next step, after the approval of the United Nations General Assembly by the majority, to go to the International Tribunal to consider the issue of the Israeli occupation is to hold a meeting with the court’s legal department next week, on collecting materials, documents and studies related to the subject.”

Yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted by majority a Palestinian draft resolution calling on the International Court of Justice to consider the issue of the Israeli occupation. The resolution received a vote of 87 countries, 25 countries and the occupying entity opposed it, while 53 countries abstained from voting.

The Palestinian Presidency affirmed that the General Assembly's vote in favor of the resolution proves the international community's support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, stressing the need to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes that violate international laws and covenants.
