The Eichenrieder musician Andi Starek and his group Tokio Spitzbuam can be seen on January 1st in the TV show "Schlager-Spass mit Andy Borg".

Eichenried

- Schlager, Schlager - and no end in sight: The TV show "Schlager-Spass mit Andy Borg" is a crowd puller.

The 50th edition of the music and entertainment show can be seen on Sunday, January 1st.

The Eichenrieder musician Andi Starek and his group Tokio Spitzbuam will also be there.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)

In his Oakmoor studio in Eichenried, Starek has been producing the group Teddy und die Lollipops for a few years, which has already been a guest on the SWR program four times.

This is how the contact to Schlager fun came about: “The producers approached me.

For the 50th anniversary, they wanted to do something special, and the one with the Tokio Spitzbuam fitted perfectly,” says the musician.

The show was recorded in May at the SWR studios in Baden-Baden.

Starek and his bandmate Ado "Adi" Kihara from Tokyo, who was visiting Germany at the time, were there together.

The other musicians of the Tokio Spitzbuam, on the other hand, were connected live from Japan: So while Starek and Kihara played in Baden-Baden, the remaining band members played in Tokyo - in "Zum Eichenplatz", one of the most renowned German pubs there.

"The landlords are good friends of ours, we play there regularly.

They are total fans of Germany and the Oktoberfest,” says Starek.

For him, the appearance in the hit show is a premiere.

"I've been to a few programs on regional television, but not in this size," says Starek and says that he and Kihara were warmly welcomed to the recording of the program.

At a pre-party the day before, music was played together and the guests of the show got to know each other.

Because in addition to the Tokio Spitzbuam, the 50th edition of the show presented by Borg, which has been around since December 2018, also includes Patrick Lindner, Eric Philippi, Bonny Tones, the Zellberg Buam, Landfunk Tirol, Tina Rainford and the Althistorische Narrenzunft Offenburg to see.

The Tokio Spitzbuam present their song "Konnichiwa", which has been firmly established as a party version in Tokyo for several years: "Many bands play our song at Oktoberfest," says Starek.

However, the musicians have re-recorded “Konnichiwa” for Schlager fun – as an Oberkrainer/polka version.

They also play the Oberkrainer classic “Unsere Tante Mizzi” as a live version together with Andy Borg.

The show focuses on music and lots of fun, but viewers also learn about Starek's past as a sumo wrestler and the founding history of the Tokyo Scoundrels.

While 1.51 million people nationwide tuned in to the TV show, some viewers from Japan are also sitting in front of the screens in the anniversary episode.

“There is a time difference of eight hours.

But since the program can be seen in our media center from 4 p.m., our Japanese friends meet at midnight local time for the public viewing,” says Starek with a laugh.

By the way, this early summer the Tokio Spitzbuam were on a small tour in Austria, Slovenia and Germany, next April further performances in Europe are planned.

In the fall, Starek was in Japan again to play with the band - "for the first time since Corona".

The Spitzbuam could be heard at the Tokyo Music Festival, among other places, as one of the three most well-known Oberkrainer bands from Japan, alongside Maria and the Alpenbuam and the Edelweißkapelle.
