As the police announced on Sunday, the 45-year-old driver and the 21-year-old passenger of the ambulance had to be cut out of the totally destroyed vehicle.
Both were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Accordingly, the driver of the oncoming vehicle, who had gotten into the oncoming lane in a right-hand bend, was slightly injured in the accident.
According to the police, he was under the "not inconsiderable" influence of alcohol and also did not have a valid driver's license.
The suspected cause of the accident must now expect several criminal charges.
During the recording of the accident, the B 312 near Unlingen was closed in both directions.
The total property damage was estimated at around 260,000 euros.
